Road Trip to Laguna Beach

A perfect road trip itinerary for a day from Malibu to Laguna Beach with a stop at Crystal Cove

 

Crystal Cove is a state park located between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach. It's known for its scenic cliffs, secluded beaches, tide pools, and underwater ecological reserves. There are also hiking trails with ocean views. A great place to relax and take in the beautiful Southern California coastline.

 

Your trip will be around 75 miles and take about 1 hour and a half.

 

Here's how to make the most of your day:

 

• Start your day early and head north on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Enjoy the beautiful views as you drive through Malibu.
• Make your first stop at Crystal Cove State Park. There is a day-use fee to enter the park. You can park in the Los Trancos Canyon lot and walk from there to the beach. There are also a few spots for paid parking closer to the beach.
• Spend a few hours relaxing on the beach, tidepooling, or hiking one of the trails. There is a snack bar at the park, or you can pack a picnic lunch.
• Continue your drive south on PCH to Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach is a popular beach town with beautiful coves, art galleries, shops, and restaurants. There are also a number of things to see and do in town, including:
• Visit the Laguna Beach Art Museum
• Take a boat tour to see the Laguna Beach Marine Reserve
• Go tide pooling at tidepools at The Strand Beach
• Hike or bike on one of the many trails in Laguna Beach
• Spend the afternoon exploring downtown Laguna Beach, or relaxing on one of the many beaches
• Have dinner at one of Laguna Beach's many restaurants before heading back to Malibu.
